In order to retain some of the secrets of Search Retreat I decided on a strange format for this blog. Below are a number of snapshots from my weekend, in chronological order, and in as much detail as I dare to reveal. Things were said and actions were done that I must respect by keeping them unmentioned. Therefore some of these snapshots are intentionally vague. That being said, I hope that I create a picture of what my experience was like entirely from my perspective. Enjoy.

Community

The final talk was to be given by our small group leader and it's topic was community. Before the talk some members of my small group approached me and asked if we should all go up after the talk and hug him, as it was common to do so amongst the retreat leaders. I told them I thought it was a great idea. The told me they would only do it if I lead them up there. Of course I could. Even though I was their fellow searcher and peer the looked to me to lead them up here. I felt... needed again. Since returning to SCU after no longer being a CF I have not had a group to lead. It felt great to be needed in that way again. I gathered the group and we sat in the front of the crowd, ready to spring up together as a group after the talk was over. During the talk I couldn't help but look back on the last 72 hours and contemplate how quickly our community had grown up out of nothing.

After the talk was over we stood up and gave him a big group hug. I was told later that it was the first time some of the retreat leaders had ever seen a whole small group come up after a talk to hug their leader. It was the culmination of relationship together.
